Here's our list of 7:

1. Allantoin: Allantoin promotes cell proliferation and supports overall skin “renovation.” If the skin gets stressed, it will focus on trying to repair itself rather than focusing on cell turnover. We want the epidermis (skin’s outermost layer) to continually exfoliate itself while producing more new skin cells. As we age, the time it takes for new layers produced in the basal layer of the skin to move to the top layer increases. This, along with environmental and lifestyle stressors can contribute to dull, clogged skin, uneven tone, and rough texture. Allantoin helps with cell renewal as well as wound healing and calming skin irritation. Soothing allantoin can be found in our Cucumber Anti-Couperose Face Mask and Sensitive Care Balm.

2. Rose: All varieties contain antioxidants that help nourish and protect the skin. Rosehip Seed Oil contains vitamins, antioxidants and essential fatty acids that help support natural collagen production and help improve skin texture and tone. It is an excellent emollient for dry and dehydrated skin conditions. Products containing rose essence or rose water (Aloe Rose Toner) have beneficial hydrating and anti-inflammatory properties.

3. Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHAs): Most of you are somewhat familiar with the AHA family which includes glycolic (derived from sugar cane), lactic (from milk or fermented corn starch and beets) and malic (apple) acids. They are your BFF’s when it comes to exfoliation and other benefits like promoting collagen production, smoothing, and evening out skin tone and texture and helping to fade hyperpigmentation. When used first, they help prep the skin for better product absorption. Start slowly whenever you are introducing an AHA into your skincare routine – use no more than once or twice per week and increase from there if your skin is amenable. Of course, we recommend Glycagel and our AHA/BHA Cleanser – our go-to workhorses on our clinic floor!

4. Evening Primrose Oil: Essential fatty acids, or omegas, are most often obtained in diet or supplement form. When you apply evening primrose oil topically, its abundance of omega 3’s and 6’s gives your skin instant hydration, helps smooth and refine texture, and is an excellent remedy for redness, irritation, and rosacea skin conditions. It repairs, restores, and moisturizes skin tissue. Highly recommended for an anti-aging skincare routine. (Super Emollient & Advanced Moisture Crème both contain evening primrose oil for rich hydration.)

5. Hyaluronic Acid: Our bodies naturally produce hyaluronic acid, but it decreases as we age. There’s virtually no skin type or condition that can’t benefit from a hyaluronic acid boost. This ingredient helps bind moisture to the skin for longer lasting hydration. It also helps promote collagen production to keep skin looking “plump”. It mixes easily with most other skincare ingredients and is found in serums (Hyaluronic Acid Serum), moisturizers (Lemon Gel Crème, Marine Hydration Crème), eyecare products (Eye Contour Gel) and facial masks (Advanced Peptide Mask).

Euro Tip: Apply hyaluronic acid serum to damp skin to help it work to its full potential by locking moisture into the skin.

6. Niacinamide: A form of vitamin B3, which is known for its soothing and healing properties. Research has shown niacinamide is beneficial in helping to protect skin from environmental damage and aids in collagen production. It also helps reduce the appearance of “age spots” (photo damage), minimizes enlarged pores, and helps heal blemishes.

7. Gotu Kola: An herb used in Ayurveda for hundreds of years as a natural anti-inflammatory, Gotu Kola is known as the “herb of enlightenment.” AnneMarie Camenzind, founder of the Euro Institute, and skincare pioneer included this powerful antioxidant in her original skincare formulations (Marine Silk Serum and Renewal Serum). It is well known for its rejuvenating and anti-aging properties – its ability to stimulate collagen production, protection from free radicals and skin tightening.
